Hi. I’m MaryLee Herrmann and I live in Lyons, Colorado, a little town outside of Boulder. My passion is telling stories through film and words and sometimes photographs. I work in retail to support my filmmaking habit, which took off in 2010 with my award-winning short film, The Necklace, which I was able to tour with throughout the U.S. One of the most exhilirating parts of attending the festivals was the response and encouragement I received to keep making films my way, with my voice, and discovering that there is an audience for them.
I am working on a collaborative feature film with two other directors, a documentary film and a screenplay for a feature. Reaching people through story is what inspires me.
I love being an aunt to my nieces and nephews. Especially since they repeatedly asked, “Aunt MaryLee, are you a grownup or a kid?” Being with them to me means being on their level and playing with them, not just sending birthday cards. I get a lot of my silliness from my Dad who has always been there for me and is my best friend. Someday I’ll post some pictures of him and you’ll see what I mean.
I like riding my bike, the upright soft-seat cruiser with a cup holder.
I watch movies the way most people listen to music.
I am a voracious reader. (Alright, have been.) I’m deep into Goldie Hawn’s autobiography and loving it.
Oh yeah, boots are another addiction.

Reading “The Bee Whisperer”. THANK YOU!! I’m the ’72 year old teenager’ with my grand-kids, and there’s greater satisfaction than holding them. I’m a very emotional guy and have great times together. Have a great Christmas!

…NO greater satisfaction, I say! (smile)

Last century, I researched Mary Kingsley and used her life story to create a new character that I used in my masters thesis in ceramics. I have to show you some of the pages and the work I made to go along with the writing as no one else would understand it like you would!
